Referee Info

February 8th, 2025 2:00pm-5:30pm OSA will be holding our in person referee clinic

 

Please make sure to have all online lessons completed by 6pm February 7th, 2025. You won't be allowed into the clinic if you haven't completed Part 1 first, the grassroot online lessons.

GRASSROOTS REFEREE (FORMERLY GRADES 9, 8 AND 7) CLINIC

 

A referee’s journey begins at the Grassroots level. U.S. Soccer Grassroots Referees are qualified to officiate competitive, small-sided or recreational youth matches and amateur adult matches.

The U.S. Soccer Grassroots License has both an online AND in-person/on field componentGrassroots Referees will register for courses and be certified through State Referee Committees.

Requirement – you must be 13 or older at the time of registration.

The USSF Grassroots Referee certification is a TWO PART process

 

 

Part 1 - Sign up for the Grassroots Online Lessons.

There are 21 modules in the online portion. All 21 modules must be completed in full. The online lessons take approximately 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours to complete in full. (instructions on how to sign up are below).

To Register for a Grassroots Clinic:

  1. Log into – Click OMS to login
  2. Click – Find Clinic
  3. Select – Entry Never been a USSF Referee before
  4. Select – Grassroots Referee Online Lessons

Select  "Register"  which is circled in red and follow the steps to register for the online course and pay.

YOU MUST COMPLETE THE ONLINE COURSE before you can register for an INFIELD SESSION.

 

 

Part 2 – Select an in-person clinic to attend.

Once you complete the entire online lessons, you’ll be able to select an in person clinic to go to.  You must log into the  OMS system  and you will see the words – ONLINE LESSONS COMPLETED highlighted in green to know that you can select the in-person clinic you wish to attend.

The in-person clinic is the outdoor field session which last 3.5 hours.   Lots of important information is given to all attendees – who you will work for, how to get games, where to get uniforms, etc.

Odessa Soccer will provide new referees' with

 

  • Referee shirt
  • Socks 
  • Whistle
  • You will be reimbursed the online class fee of $80 after you have ref'd 8 games for OSA.

 

 

Referees' are required to wear black shorts/pants, all black shoes and must tuck your shirt in while refereeing.

 

 

Referee Pay Scale For Recreational Games 

 

U7/U8 - $30

U9/U10 - Center $37 AR 25

U11/12 Center $45 AR $30

U13 & UP Center $50 AR $35
