COVID 19 Udated Info (as of March 20, 2020)

As of today, March 20, please see the following updates due to the additional week of ECISD campus closures:

· The Spring 2020 season will be postponed until April 18.

· The 2020 West Texas Blowout tournament will be cancelled.

· The FREE OSA Technical Sessions will be cancelled thru April 3.

· No team is allowed to practice or train thru April 3.

The City of Odessa has informed OSA that any team found to be practicing or training at any City park, during this field closure time, will be suspended from using any City park for a minimum of 1 year.

COVID-19 Update

With the continuing concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we wanted to provide you with an update on the actions we are taking in response to this far reaching event.

The Spring 2020 season will be postponed until April 4.
The 2020 West Texas Blowout tournament will be cancelled.
The FREE OSA Technical Sessions will be cancelled thru March 27.
No OSA team is allowed to practice or train thru March 27.

OSA will continue to work with and take guidance from the relevant authorities as we continue to evaluate the situation, but, as each of you are aware, the above plan may have to be changed depending on the advancement of the virus.

This an ever evolving issue for each of us, but, for now, we do plan to get a full soccer season in once this issue has been rectified, but, again, this plan could change depending on the advancement of the virus.

Additionally, the City of Odessa Parks and Recreation Department has closed all parks per the email listed from the City below which also states that no activities of any kind can be held at any City park or any City facility.

Due to the threat of COVID-19, recommendations by the CDC and in the best interests for the safety, health and well-being of the citizens of Odessa and Ector County, effective immediately:

City of Odessa Parks and Recreation Department Sports Facilities will be closed until further notice. Therefore, organized sport practice/ play will not be allowed on any City of Odessa Park and Recreation Department Park/ Sports Facilities.

Note: We will be closing all Park-site restrooms including the restrooms located at the Sports Facilities.

We will be monitoring this matter closely and will keep you informed of any changes.

Please be aware of the following Best Practices as each of us continue to deal with the COVID-19 virus:

Best Practices for Health:
There is currently no vaccine to prevent the Coronavirus. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed. Everyday preventive actions should be taken:

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Stay home when you are sick.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
Follow the CDC's recommendations for using a facemask.
- CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Coronavirus.
- Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

Spring 2020 Coaches Meeting

The Spring 2020 OSA Coaches meeting will be held on Monday, March 2, at 6:30 pm at the Chapel at Crossroads Church in Odessa on Billy Hext and HWY 191.

Head Coaches, Asst Coaches and Team Managers are invited to the coaches meeting and each team must be represented by at least one of these as info regarding the upcoming season will be presented. Also, team rosters will be handed out to each team at the end of the meeting so that each coach will be contacting all players after the meeting on March 2.
